Paesaggi splendidi, colonna sonora molto gradevole, caratterizzazioni notevoli. E poi la storia: un feuilleton che incuriosisce e trattiene incollati allo schermo.
Kirk Douglas è sempre lo stesso guascone, Curtis sempre bietolone buono, la Leigh è sempre una patata bollita, ma queste sono mie percezioni soggettive.
Il film scorre bene per la maestria di Fleischer che conosce il suo mestiere e per tutto quanto di positivo detto poco sopra in apertura.
In definitiva: non un capolavoro, ma un onesto film d'intrattenimento.
