Judah Ben-Hur, a Palestinian Jew, is battling the Roman empire at the time of Christ. His actions send him and his family into slavery, but an inspirational encounter with Jesus changes everything.

Told in flashback form, the film traces the rise and fall of a tough, ambitious Hollywood producer, Jonathan Shields, as seen through the eyes of various acquaintances, including a writer, James Lee Bartlow; a star, Georgia Lorrison; and a director, Fred Amiel.

Pirdy is accident prone. He has been denied insurance from every company in town because he is always getting hit or hurt in some way.

A young Jewish man is torn between tradition and individuality when his old-fashioned family objects to his career as a jazz singer.
