Rielabora il genere western per come solo lui sa rielaborare e lascia che l'insieme delle novità venga metabolizzato.
La prolissità di linguaggio, dunque, insieme ad un mescolare di ambienti schiavisti e secessionari uniti ad un tema di fondo sul razzismo in genere, tutto insieme, lievita attraverso caratterizzazioni che rimarranno indelebili: i dottor Schltz, per esempio, secondo me rimarrà famoso nei decenni.
Tutto buono in crescendo rossiniano esplodente nel vero senso della parola.
