    Confesso un pizzico di delusione. Esistono sempre un certo tipo di umorismo intelligente, di citazionismo dotto, di scenografia accurata fin nei minimi dettagli, esiste sempre un cast di primissima scelta con caratterizzazioni brillanti, e tuttavia manca un certo non so che poi ho individuato in vetriolo. Manca il vetriolo che è stato profuso a piene mani in altre pellicole (Prima ti sposo e poi ti rovino, per esempio).
    Si ride, si ridacchia, si riflette un poco, ma non si è catturati completamente, forse, ma è una mia sommessa opinione, perché Brolin, che sembra un totem sotto l'aspetto espressionistico, non è brillante, da protagonista fil rouge, come il Clooney del citato "Prima ti sposo e poi ti rovino".
    In sostanza, per come recepisco, manca una figura protagonista carismatica e Brolin-Mannix è invece piuttosto sottotraccia, come da copione, ci mancherebbe, ma deve condividere onori e oneri con una serie di figurette azzeccate che, alla lunga, annacquano il tutto disperdendolo nella caricatura a discapito di un possibile protagonista alfa che non deve condividere nulla con nessuno.
    Il film a mio parere ne risente e stenta a decollare e quando verso la fine i giochi sono fatti si resta con un certo senso di insoddisfazione che fa giudicare il film come appena buono, ma non certo il migliore dei terribili Cohen.
