    Capolavoro, visto più e più volte senza mai avere sintomi di stanchezza.
    Si apprezza tutto. Trama, fotografia, recitazione, freschezza di Nancy Olson, perfidia disperata di Gloria Swanson, devozione di Eric Von Strohiem e complessa dabbenaggine e opportunismo a calcoli sbagliati di Holden.
    Tutto fila liscio in chiaroscuri e drammi di coscienze vari.
    Scene magistrali da storia del cinema: la finale con la discesa dallo scalone della Swanson spiritata è da far vedere a chiunque si accosti al cinema.
    Ripeto: capolavoro.
