    Un film mediocre: ovvero come spremere una idea dalla rappresentazione di una vita celebre di un eroe popolare cinese fino a sminuzzarne i contenuti in situazioni puerili che ricordano, forse anche come recitazione, i vecchi films wu xian degli anni sessanta dei fratelli Chow.
    Siamo a mezza strada tra filmetti deteriori del genere anni sessanta, appunto, con una spruzzata di amorazzi adolescenziali, infantile senso dell'onore e dell'appartenenza e poco altro.
    Quanta distanza dai due Ip Man di Wilson e da quello di Wong Kar wai!
    Si salvano alcune, e neanche tutte, scene di combattimento e poco più.
    Un film da cassare senza troppi rimpianti.
