film cult, con due mostri sacri del cinema come John Wayne e James Stewart, separati ed uniti allo stesso tempo nella classica cittadina western tra il saloon, la sceriffo codardo ed il giornalista bevone.
I due rappresentano il dualismo dell'america, i progressisti ed i conservatori, la forza e la ragione. Lee Marvin magnifico come antagonista e comprimari ben assortiti.
