Movie plot
Clarice Starling is a top student at the FBI's training academy. Jack Crawford wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

Al di là della gigioneria molto sopra le righe di Hopkins e dello stereotipizzare alcuni ritratti in maniera banale (vedi il direttore del carcere), il film ha un suo fascino per
l'introduzione dello spettatore in un mondo extra, più o meno credibile, ma che durante la proiezione esiste e mantiene una sua coerenza narrativa e scenografica.
E allora ben vengano e siano accettate reazioni scomposte, ambientazioni irrealisticamente tetre, spiegazioni fintopsicanalitiche, mangiate fuori programma,
smorfie, sguardi, emozioni a volte plausibili e a volte gratuite.
La tensione omogenizza tutto e il montaggio, che alterna studiatamente pause e adrenalina, cattura con tutto il resto.
Si può dire che questa pellicola assurge a ruolo di 'must', di classico, per gli anni a venire, e non a torto.
